There's a sound from under the floorboards. Walls are tumbling down in slow motion. The sleeping giants have woken up, but they decided to keep their pajamas on today. Big events like these should be celebrated in style. Claw Boys Claw wake up from a lengthy hibernation on their very own Pajama Day. All the kids in the nation go to school dressed in their stripy or flowery nighties. All clerks, nurses, salesmen, shop assistants, milkmen all around the country do the same. It's a bank holiday for everybody. Hey ho, it's Pajama Day! Today we will all be homely. Please follow this special dress code. Them Claw Boys are back in town.
As true alchemists they have dug really deep to uncover secrets they wouldn't have explored before. Producing a wall of sound used to be their forte in ancient times. Now, after some serious gold digging in the mines within their formerly restless souls, they have returned with a goldmine of songs. Hiding in the closet they reinvented a rawk beast with a remarkable sense of melody and pace. Instead of speeding up like they used to do, they now slow down when necessary. The music breathes more than ever. Mind you, it's still a dragon with smoke coming out of its nostrils. The quiet and homely animal is still dangerous and unpredictable.
Pete Te Bos and John Cameron are still the two-headed creative nucleus of the band. Locked up at home they assembled 60 songs, more than enough for five new albums. However, Claw Boys Claw were happy to reduce it to just one fab album, the 12-track set Pajama Day. Lyrically Te Bos has outdone himself in his years of temporary retirement. The track Halibut is about a self-destructive lad who begs his mum to put away the matches, as he's cold and prepared to set himself ablaze with fuel. What a man! Toscamoon is a tribute to your loved ones. At his age Te Bos more and more comes upon people who either fall apart or drop dead. You better stay in your closet, or better still: in bed. Put your pajamas on. It's Pajama Day. Only get out of bed or the house for a live show of the Claw Boys. Te Bos cum suis promise that stages will be burning again. The next day you will stay in again. Dressed in your nighty, you will have plenty of time to play Pajama Day over and over again.
